De-Lurking

Greetings everyone,
I've been lurking since I joined back in September, but being the shy type it took awhile to really feel settled here. The thing I love best about dreamwidth: Easy import/account creation feature. I don't know that I would have ever left Fail-jay had it not been for that.
All that said, I'm looking for reader-ship. So are there any friending memes or things on DW or communities you recommend joining? I enjoy reading the "latest things" page, but I always feel funny contacting people from there.
I'm pretty eclectic in my tastes, but I don't know that I really fall into the "fandom" types of things. I love music (pretty much everything but rap), theatre, art, religious/Christianity issues and discussions and talking about the mundane things that make up life. Why call things ordinary when they can be "extra-ordinary"?
Anyway, I'm open to suggestions. My account currently fails at updates, because I like to write for an 'audience' and it's a bit meh when I don't have an audience to write for - in that I think "no one's reading so why bother."
