Well hey there-
So, given the loads of people dropping like flies off of my friendslist on LJ and coming over to DW, I've decided to go ahead and fully invest myself here.
Much as I'd like to just drop-kick LJ completely, I can't, as I've still got a good number of readers over there that I wouldn't want to do without. It sucks, but well, there you have it.
So, who am I?
I'm an artist- I work primarily in leather, doing masks and other accessory bits, but I also do digital artwork. hell, while we're at it, here- have a couple of samples:
Anyways, more importantly by far is what I'm looking for- namely help finding some things, not to mention potentially some new friends.
Like for starters, a good way to solve my problem- is there some decent way to get both Dreamwidth and LJ combined into a single reading page? Including locked/filtered entries I'd normally have access to on each individual page?
Also, I'm used to using Semagic for posting- any good similar client out there for DW?

Not yet (not with locked/filtered entries), but apparently it's in the works.

ETA: As mentioned below, state of play is that they know how to do it, in technical terms, but want to be able to implement it in ways that are non-evil and don't get LJ banning them for making too many demands on LJ's servers.

You can add LJ journals to your reading list as a feed, but it won't pick up locked posts. They'd like to pick up locked posts as well for those who have access to them, but not until they find a non-evil/non-privacy-borking way to do it.

The Dreamwidth Wiki also links to a tutorial on how to Crosspost to both LJ and DW. And I've just realized they explain how to set up a DW account on Semagic (with screencaps even!).

Now I just need to figure out a way to get Semagic to crosspost it automatically, and to have it follow filters properly, since those are identical across both journals. But still, it's a good start- thanks!

I gave up Semagic and I haven't been pleased with any of the minimal (IMO) efforts towards clients that some DW users have made. I just got used to the web interface from DW, even though usually I prefer client-type programs for this purpose.

Otherwise, you have to remember to crosspost each entry in semagic by choosing the Journal > Post to Multiple Journals option. I don't think that part can be automated.
If you have DW to crosspost and you use the post to multiple journals option on semagic, you'll end up with duplicate entries for those journals where DW crossposts (i.e. you have IJ and LJ set up on the DW site, and you choose to crosspost to DW and LJ via semagic, you'll end up with two copies of your post on LJ - the one semagic sends and the one DW sends - but only one copy on DW and IJ). I discovered this when they changed the settings on DW and all of a sudden I was getting multiple posts on LJ and IJ.

As was said above, you can post to DW with Semagic. I thought that it would crosspost automatically when you posted from Semagic to DW, if you have crossposting set to default? Is this not the case?
You should know that Dreamwidth has been working on a new posting interface all summer. I think they're getting close to going live with it - it looks pretty awesome.

I definitely will take a look at this
Thanks!
