Fandom-y question

I think the biggest thing that most people fleeing LJ are looking for on DW is an equal fandom presence, or at least a place to start looking. A place to pimp out comms that are created to try and replace the LJ ones.

Any ideas, fellow refugees?

Edit: Holy crap you all are fantastic!!! :D

I know what you mean. I've done several interest searches and found a lot of inactive communities. I'm really thinking of going back through and making a "Is anyone still here?!" post at some of them, because I'm sure new people have joined with the LJ exodus going on. People might just be hesitant to post. It might be worth it just to see if anyone comes out of the woodwork.

I think that's a brilliant idea! I should get it on it and take care of the communities I'm modding.

Yeah, my impression is that when open beta started, a lot of people just sort of copied the names of big LJ communities over and waited for a flood of people to materialize and start posting in the comm. And when that didn't happen, they abandoned the comm.

So there are a number of comms that died out after a few introductory posts. The comms that have taken off are the ones where the mods have been really involved and put a lot of effort into promoting the comm, starting posts, getting other people involved, etc..
