[personal profile] jjhunter: Dreamwidth Friending Meme
It's been a long time since I've seen one of these around. If you're looking to add more mutual subscriptions to your circle, here is a space to advertise and connect.

What's the story behind your default icon?...it's me and His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, an excellent Tibetan Buddhist lama who was imprisoned in Chinese prison camp for 20 years and came out more cheerful than ever: great teacher, very cheerful and wise...
Favorite Dreamwidth communities, if any:...anything that is active, really...
Your dominant identity or identities on Dreamwidth so far: ...I'm working on an MBA and am very into the psychology of finance, and I sing rock and roll and jazz with some semifamous people, and I got electrocuted a few years back, and I create a ton of feeds, so that's about it for now...I post about those things to varying degrees...
Describe yourself using up to six of your journal tags and/or interests on your profile page:...eh, best to look at my page, since it will give a better idea, but music, financial psychology, health, vegetarianism, working with multiple personality clients, and not into fanfic or that stuff really...
Places around Dreamwidth people might know you from: ...I created the majority of the 250+ish feeds on my page, but since no one else seems aware of them, it's probably not that...!...I was on lj for a decade or so, but yanked most stuff off of it when they sold it the last time or time before that and said they'd just use it to harvest content and sell it...yuck...
What do you hope to get out of participating in this meme?...remember when people interacted on lj only a few years back...? Pretty much anything like that...friends, or people with some common interests, anything interesting and not a lot of arguing...my journal is friends'-locked, but let me know if you want to read it...
Anything else you'd like people to know?...you never know until you find out...! I just am interested in a range of people, diversity, getting along with people, social issues, all that stuff, but not wanting to fight actively about it in my journal...

...huh, I had looked there first and decided that since it was an individual's journal, it'd be rude to post there without invitation...I'll try it...thanks! ...and I'll look at the music community too...

...I followed through on both of them (joined that community and also reposted it on your page, thanks)...and maybe it's an age thing, but I am happy to fill out the information, but then I feel uncomfortable just 'friending' people, although many of the folks look interesting to me...it's something about 'in the old days', you didn't just do it without asking since it's rude...maybe these days I'll just ask people if they want to 'friend' me...

Preferred name and/or pronouns: Marah Marie, MM or M&M (not my real name but the only name I've used online rather consistently)
What's the story behind your default icon? It's hilarious. ;) I adapted it after leaving LJ over the click-jacking fiasco to bolster my nerve to stay here. I tend to flee new things and crawled back to LJ too many times over the years after leaving for seemingly greener pastures (Wordpress, Typepad, and IJ, to name a few) so I wanted DW to be the last stop I ever made online. The icon reminded me in a cutesy non-literal way what I'd be going back to if I ever got stupid enough to flee again.
Favorite Dreamwidth communities, if any: [site community profile] dw_dev, [site community profile] dw_suggestions, [site community profile] dw_news, [site community profile] dw_styles, [community profile] style_system...I'm very DW-centric, though I'm not involved with coding the backend or making official styles or anything like that right now.
Your dominant identity or identities on Dreamwidth so far: Marah Marie
Describe yourself using up to six of your journal tags and/or interests on your profile page:...poems, google, aol, anti-aol, my thoughts: * (maybe a hundred sub-tags under that one), web design
Places around Dreamwidth people might know you from: probably the communities mentioned above. I also own [community profile] css_code. On LJ I was [livejournal.com profile] marahmarie; I also ran an anti-AOL blog on LJ for several years. And I posted tutorials and advice on [livejournal.com profile] s2_bloggish.
Anything else you'd like people to know? I'm desperate to see more and better stuff on my DW Reading Page, so I'm looking to subscribe if you're looking for a subscriber :). If you write regularly or just write well or even if you only write on topics that interest me but not all that well or that regularly, it doesn't matter, chances are I'm on it, seriously. I'm subscribing to almost 40 people yet I'm lucky if there are six new posts each day (and those are usually from just three people). I get bored fast and read quickly so things are not good. I'm a truly vociferous reader and the few really good posters I subscribe to keep me up to date on what's going on since I don't use (or even visit) Facebook or Twitter all that much, so if you want to subscribe/vice versa just go ahead and do so and/or let me know...
