Hello from an artist refugee

Well, I've just deleted my two little-used LJ accounts, left the main one intact but completely f-locked, cancelled my auto-renewal, and taken every possible bit of personal information out of my profile.

So, by the warm glow of my burning bridges, I want to search out some communities for artists over here. I like to post images and I need to know what's a safe host to use, since currently I can't upload to DW from my desktop (and yes, I know they're working on that, and it makes me happy).

I've just learned that my Photobucket account is infested with Facebugs and will probably need to be ditched, so.  Anyone got some suggestions for safer options?

I like Tinypic for image hosting; imgur.com is nice too.

I think that Shutterfly is still Facebug-free. :) You can post to a share site but it's not linked to Facebook, as far as I can tell.

Picasa perhaps? I'm not totally sure though.
Sheesh, my Photobucket is so old, like seriously old. It still has my first username I ever had on the intertubes. I didn't even think about FB being there until now. :[

Picasa works. Set the file sharing to "Anyone who has the link", cos that doesn't make it completely public. Click the pic you want to post, then on the right-hand side of the screen, click "Link to this Photo". Two little fields will pop up. Select All in the Embed field, copy, and paste that into the body of your post. What you get is the pic you wanted, and a link to your Picasa album... so it's rather much like the old LJ Scrapbook of yore (might as well start to refer to LJ as 'history').

Fff, I am so out of the loop – really?

Facebook and photobucket are kinda connected, but I don't think it's that bad. I'm not sure though. You can share an image using facebook, twitter, myspace or even a messenger, but you have to log into facebook on there. Actually, apparently I'm logged in on facebook and the accounts are connected. <.< That's upsetting.... But it doesn't auto update my facebook. I stay off facebook a lot....
That said, if you find any good artist communities, let me know. This one looks promising, but I'm not joining until the entire aftermath clears on Tuesday: http://art.dreamwidth.org/
If all else fails, and Lj turns out to go the direction we're thinking it's going, it might be a cool idea to create an artist community. o.o You have a lot of artist friends and it'd be nice to make our own little niche. If not, that's fine.

I think Tinypic is actually really nice too.

I'm thinking about moving to Imageshack to start hosting my images since Photobucket's limited space and image resizing is beginning to annoy me. Anyone know of any issues with it (as far as Facebugs and such), and if there's a limit on how much you can upload?

Also, I was [profile] ninjakitters on LJ. *Waves* I just moved. XD

I'd say Tinypic.
Even if it's PB little bro, you don't have limited space and I didn't see FB adds and such

I'm currently using Dropbox to host a variety of things, including images. Uploading is super easy because you just have to save the file in a particular folder on your computer and Dropbox will automatically upload it for you. :)

One tip if you're going to use Dropbox: if you want things to be visible to others while you're offline, they have to be inside the "Public" folder. If you put them in a folder outside the "Public" one; they'll be visible when you're online and invisible when you're off.
(I'm mentioning this because it took me an embarrassingly long time--like, several days--to figure out that that was what was causing issues with my images. XD)
