Replicating LJ friends page style

I need some help. I color code my friends page to help sort out communities, filters, etc. It really helps me keep things straight. My style is Classic Desktop and Punquin Elegant.

I'd really like to find the correct DW journal style that will help me use colors like this. I've tried going through styles on my own, but I am not having luck. Does anyone know what I could use? Once I get this squared away, my transition from LJ to DW will be complete!

Every layout on DW has that option. It's a requirement for all designs. This is the section to tell your layout to show colors. Scroll down to "Additional Options" and find the ticky box for "Use my custom reading page colors". It's empty by default, I believe. Tick it.

If you set up custom reading page colors when you subscribed to a journal/community, they should show up now. (Various layouts will implement this differently. Mine only puts colors behind the icon alone, for example.) If you didn't before, you can make that change on this page. It's at the very bottom.

(Same commenter, doing some experiments.)

No problem. I'm familiar with breaking things down step by step for plenty of my friends. XD

One thing you'll want to remember is that if you change journal layouts by picking a different design, you will need to go back to that first link I gave you and ticky the box again. DW doesn't yet save those options when switching between layouts, so anything you've changed in the wizard will reset itself to the default. It won't take your reading page colors away, so those won't change, but you need to re-tell it that you want them to show.

Hmm, I've been working on a style called Handlebars that I'm hoping to finish up over the break that's a mimicry of an LJ style that has very prominent circle color stuff:

Oh, that would be *awesome* for people who use the reading colors. Most of the ones I tried only did it behind the icon square, which was a little disappointing.

Oh, I am so looking forward to this! I too need a style that has the friends colors as vertical bars down the entries, and hadn't been able to figure out a good DW-native one yet.

There's a Stepping Stones theme called Friendly Colors that has this. I made it the last time we had a big influx of LJ users but it never really got promoted anywhere!

Oh, thanks for asking this question -- I didn't know I could do that here! Now to find a style that makes it show up better...
