Access to LJ

Hi~.

I'm not sure if this kind of post is allowed here. If not, you can delete this post, mods.^^

Anyway, I haven't been able to access livejournal for like two weeks. Everytime I click, it says something like the server has too my users at the moment.

From its status page (http://status.livejournal.org/), LJ's apparently up and running.

So, is it just me? What should I do? I use both firefox 3.6 and IE, if it helps. Anyone know any way to contact LJ authorities so that I could let them know about my problems?

I hardly post but I have dozens of comms on my flist there that I read everyday. So any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Have you tried LJ support, or is that one of the pages you can't access?

If you use IRC at all, the next thing I'd try would be asking in the support channel - someone there will know what else to try:
Server: ircd.livejournal.org
Ports: 6667-6669, 7000
Channel: #lj_support
If you've never used IRC, there's a web client at http://www.mibbit.com/

LJ also have a twitter account, but I'm not sure how often they check replies to it, so that might also be worth a try.

Edit: Just saw Azz's reply, and yeah, email is better still, I'd forgotten about that.

In the event that you can't get through to the support page, you can also file a support request by email: support@livejournal.com

They're also on Facebook, and actually update the page there (while the official status page gets ignored/left).

LJ wasn't very reliable the last weeks but another problem could be that you use FF 3.6
It's not really working on LJ anymore, I had loads of problems before I dled the new version. Maybe you could try that?

Hrm, I use FF 3.6 and haven't seem to have too many troubles (aside from the DDoS).

Hummm...first I've heard of this. I still have FF3.6 on my netbook, and have no issues accessing LJ when it's accessible.

FF 3.6.x works fine on LJ.

Clear out your cookies, that's the advice they were giving earlier and it worked for some.

Definitely clear your cache/cookies, and if you can, I would upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, too. The one you're using is pretty outdated. But I'll bet just clearing the cache/cookies will help.

I'm running Chrome. When I try to get to LJ by clicking on a link anywhere, it just freezes. I can eventually get to the page by putting my cursor into the address bar at the end of the address...

FOR EXAMPLE: HXXP://WWW.THIS_IS_THE_ADDRESS.COM| <-- the vertical line represents the cursor.

...and hitting "return" a couple of times. The page loads (eventually) and after that I have no trouble navigating the site. Maybe this will work for you too.

Best of luck!

At a guess, I'd say your IP may be caught up in the anti-DDOS countermeasures. The timing is right, and if there were a bunch of zombified computers in your IP block, they may have blocked you whole hog to avoid further damage.

Checking with support SHOULD help. Good luck!
