I will miss LJ of course, I've been there since I was 14.
But, I worry that I will lose all of my entries. So, I shall let my paid account expire, and work on backing all my entries up here.

I will miss some really cool people and communities though. Any recommendations?

1) I love your name. :D

2) Comms? Depends on what you're into. Though watching dw_community_promo is a good start. :)

Remember you can do an import, once LJ is up & stable again.

^What "phoenixsong" said.^

You don't have to worry about losing any entries.
With DW you can import your entire LJ, comments and all.
I did. Didn't take as long as they said, either.

I'm trying to get [community profile] capslock_dreamwidth to 100 subscribers. You should totes go join it.

What the others said about importing your LJ entries. But also -- if you can stand the ads -- you can let your LJ go basic, and still read your friends/comms there. Personally, I read the friends who have move to DW, here, and the friends who haven't moved, over there.

Firefox + adblock = no ads : )

I thought I read that LJ is set up so that adblock doesn't work, so I never tried. Does adblock work for you?

Thank you. I'm wary of add-ons (strange mixture of computer adept with technophobe, here), but I'll have to look this up.

AdBlock Plus works very well with LJ, and is easy to install, too. Here's a link so you don't need to look it up.

Here's a list to get you started once you have adblock. This is most of the major adservers out there: https://easylist.adblockplus.org/en/ There's also a nice privacy option that will block web bugs, tacking scripts and information collectors.

There's also an Adblock-plus like add-on for Internet Explorer, if you use that: http://simple-adblock.com/
Both the Firefox Adblock-plus and the IE simple-adblock plugins work really well for me. I forget that sites have ads until I see them on someone else's computer...

I don't know, but join something and be active! The communities here need some TLC and it'll take a certain growth of users to get to that point.

I agree with what [personal profile] aximili said.

You can look for communities via [site community profile] dw_community_promo and [community profile] create_my_comm. In addition, I recommend browsing posts via Latest Things. I've discovered some communities to join through the public posts there :)
