Qoutes needed!

I'm writing an article for Newsvine/MSN regarding the recent events on LJ, and I need quotes for the story-general concerns about privacy, but I'm also really hungry for quotes from people who were in support communities or the like who may fear their personal safety, housing situation, or job situation were their privacy breached by LJ.

You may comment here, in my public entry on LJ, on email me at idreammyworld@gmail.com. I will, of course, post the story here when it's done. You'll need to put your comment here, and then let me know if you want to be quoted anon or if using your name is OK.

Help, people! Please don't be just another person who complains but doesn't move to take action! Thank you.

I'll keep my eye open for any quotes that might be useful. I'm glad you're writing something up, though; I was rather surprised that it hadn't been done already, actually.

You're welcome to quote anything I've made in this post (with the exception of the commentary to the post).

Please leave me be anonymous for the purposes of the article. (I'm not sure if that's sufficient consent.)

Can I just say that I really like what you've done with your journal style?

I don't fear for my personal safety, housing or job, but I've got a lot of private, "Hey I only trust these people" to read it type of entries on my LJ (all friend locked), and there are subjects that I don't need or want my family members to find out about unless I tell them. I was talking about it with one of my friends, and said that (paraphrasing), I wouldn't go into my aunt's house and start going on about my period and how cramps suck, or what's going on in my romantic life, and it really ticks me off that a site would tell its users, "Screw your privacy, we're gonna open that door anyway, and too bad if you wanted that kept hidden!". :| It's not up to them to decide, and IMHO, no amount of pr-spin, "comment here and we'll send you a digital kitty!" or whatever nonsense they can pull will make me go "Oh, yeah that's a good idea, NVM. Please link my two online lives! :D"

:|! Sorry, sore subject. Feel free to quote me if you'd like, just credit me as anon.

I don't think privacy is the only problem many users have with this new implement - though it's undoubtedly the biggest. But what about those people that post adult art, writing or links to either? Those entries can be locked, yes, but let's face it, most of them aren't. And just imagine, now, that somebody you don't even known posts a comment to one of these NC-17 content entries, and they crosspost to facebook, and next thing you know, children can read/view your work with sexual content. One step further, all of a sudden people who check you out on the internet - potential employers, for example - find even just one of the links to your journal, of which there will be many spread over the web thanks to this feature; your journal where you post private stuff or perhaps graphic descriptions/pictures of sex, things you created. It's a disaster.

Feel free to quote, but as I'm scared and paranoid, I'd rather be credited anon.

My biggest concern with the whole thing is job security. I use my LJ as an outlet, and there's been a lot of stuff happening at work lately that I have not been happy with. It's to the point where I've got some feelers out to another place in a different state in hopes of getting away from here. I discuss this all in great length on LJ, including first names and specific events. Many of those people are friends with me on Facebook. If they got connected to my LJ and realized all of this, I may not need to worry about my job, because I probably wouldn't have it anymore.

(To clarify, I don't bash any of these people personally or think they're incompetent or anything like that. I question some decisions and the way they treat me, and I don't want them to find this out until I decide it's time to discuss it openly. Which probably won't be anytime soon unless the other job option pans out.)
