What is this community import info I'm hearing?

Is it true? I wonder how it's going to work. What will stop me from importing my favorite LJ community even though I'm not a mod? I hope there is a way where only the mods can do this.

If this is implemented, then what will stop you will probably be the fact that you don't have the password to an account that mods the community -- the same thing that keeps you from importing any random person's journal.

Word from on high is that community importing is "actively being developed and should be available very soon".

No actual implementation details are currently available, because, yeah, still being worked on. I'd strongly suggest watching dw-news for more info to pop up in the near-ish future.

From what I understand, (and I am SO not anybody official) the only people who will be able to import a community will be the owner/mod(s) of that community. In addition, any individual community member will still be able to edit/delete their own content even if they don't have/want a Dreamwidth account, by using OpenID.

It will be up to the community mod, though, to clear the action with the community members.
