trouble with feeds

I have made a few dozen feeds here, and most of them are fine, but can anyone tell me please how to make them only display each item once a day??? The biggest culprits are the Guardian style and culture pages, which seem to post ten or so copies of each item on the reading page. Each entry appears, today anyhow, to have been posted at the same time as the other copies of it, so it didn't come across as the feed checking itself at 10 am and then noon and then 4 pm etc., although it could be doing that sort of thing and just gobbing out what it finds. The BBC pages tend to post any number of times a day too, but seem to imply that the feeds get checked more often actively. Any insight on this, please? It makes me lose interest in the reading page to see the same things over and over. Thanks.

DW actually doesn't have a whole lot of control over feeds. All dw does is retrieve the feed once every $BitOfTime, and parses what it finds there. If a feed is using a new ID for a post, it gets up up as a new post. If it's using an ID that DW has already seen from that feed, it gets ignored. If you're consistently getting multiple copies of the same entry from a feed, it's most likely the feed provider's fault, though if you get me a specific feed, I can take a look.

Yeah, most likely it's a dodgy site that's giving it a new ID every time they edit the post.

We can't do anything to change them - it would need to be the coders at the Guardian or BBC websites fixing it.

I had something similar when I set up a feed the first time... and then realised that I'd managed to set up a feed for the comments page, not for the actual entries as I'd wanted.

Not sure if that's what you've got, due to the time signatures, but maybe it's worth checking?
