Update on the Tinypic situation.

For users that found out about the tinypic situation via my post below yestereday (including me), this comes from Tinypic's website:

We heard from many of our users in regards to these changes and we appreciate your feedback. Tinypic has restored linking to your images and enabled uploading. Please rest assured no content was removed from the site. We tried to notify users on Tinypic and requested they move their content to Photobucket. Unfortunately this messaging was insufficient and has taken many of our users by surprise and we apologize. Our intent was to begin combining some of the best features of Tinypic and Photobucket, thereby offering users a better experience. Any changes in the future will be better communicated. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

They must have caught all kinds of hell from their userbase yesterday to backtrack this fast and quick.

Well, backtrack for now. They don't say they're changing their mind about 'banning' non-US countries. They've already done that with Argentina, I believe.
I've switched host and requested they deleted my account anyway.

I heard they got tons and tons of mails complaining about this.
They did said they were going to move content, but on a blog which 95% of the ppl don't know about.
Besides many users don't like the bandwidth and storage limits in PB and stated clearly they would move to other websites.

IMFHO if they wanted to improve things, they could do them but without kicking out their international userbase.
IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY!!!
Oh... why does this remind me of something...?

even if they backtracked, I lost my trust
maybe I'm just tired of websites stating something and then acting in a totally different way...

yeah, that's something...
I doubt it's gonna be the same with LiveTwitFace >>

Too bad LJ wasn't as receptive to userbase feedback.

so...you guys, what you are you going to use? Cos I don't trust tinypic to keep their word for long, iirc the bulk uploader of PB is wonky (and I don't trust PB) and imageshack is just meh. I'm at loss

As [personal profile] erika said, I've seen the imgur thing also. But personally, I've never found a free site that did what I wanted. I used a paid site, been on it for years, it is unlimited everything, with various privacy level settings, and it's the best site I have ever found. If you're interested in paying for something better, feel free to let me know and I'll hook you up with a referral for a lil discount. (that goes for anyone who reads this and is sick of free sites being crappy!)

I used to have a domain and I used some of its space to store some of my pics. I got rid of it and...gah, I can't afford to pay another service atm unless it's v v v cheap? I mean, I want to buy an account here first, and I'm already saving up money for that. Thanks for the tip, though. I'll keep in mind that you know a good service. You never know ;)

No, it's definitely not a cheap one. I mean it's not like OMGoutrageous! but it's a fair amount. It's yearly, and like I said, everything is unlimited, # of photos, bandwidth, everything, and there's various levels of privacy settings, plus they sell prints and items and stuff, which in my experience were always good quality. It's a really great site, if you ever decide to splurge on that, definitely keep it/me in mind, so I can give ya the deal. ^^
