Poor LJ! Evidence points to the DDoS being retaliation for hosting the blog of a Russian anti-corruption advocate. This isn't the first time this has happened. I support them in this and hope they pull through soon.

I've also seen speculation that after the ignominy of having its notifications spam-trapped LJ was trying to crack down on the spammers, and the spammers responded in kind...

Sometimes the spammers are using spam as a political weapon. And people can underestimate the savviness of bots...
